About Us

My name is Kelvin Mark, and I am the face behind New Life Funeral Director. But more importantly, I am someone who walks with families during the most difficult and fragile moments of their lives.

After completing National Service in 1994, I began my professional journey in aviation, joining Singapore Technologies Aerospace (then known as STAe) as an aircraft technician. Life was steady and structured, but in 1997, I made an unexpected turn. I left behind the hangars and toolkits and stepped into a world I never thought I’d be part of: the funeral profession.

It was my late uncle, Sylvester, a highly respected embalmer who first opened the door. I started from scratch. I wasn’t just observing. I was on the ground assisting with embalming, driving hearses and casket vans, arranging logistics, and attending to grieving families. Every role, every task, taught me something. And in this field, you don’t learn from books rather you learn by showing up, fully present, no matter the day or hour.

Whether it’s raining, a festive holiday, or a once-in-a-lifetime personal moment, this calling demands complete devotion. I’ve answered calls on Christmas Eve, during family gatherings, and even on the night before my own wedding. Because grief doesn’t wait and neither can we.

These moments have shaped me. They’re not just job experiences, they’re moments of human truth. What I’ve gained from them no one can ever take away.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my wife. Her understanding is a quiet strength that carries me through.

In 2009, my cousin and I co-founded New Life Funeral Home. A few years later, in 2016, I stepped out independently to establish New Life Funeral Director grounded in faith, humility, and the promise to serve every family with sincerity.

Since then, I’ve supported families across Singapore. Catholic, Christian, Free Thinker  providing not only local funeral arrangements, but international repatriation as well. Every family is different, but the need for dignity and care is universal.

In 2018, my life took a deeply personal turn. I lost my firstborn son, Enzo, who was born with a severe heart condition. He passed at just 4 months and 1 week old. I cradled his tiny body a mere 220 grams and placed him into a 2-foot casket. I watched him go, and I’ll never forget the silence in that moment.

That experience changed everything. It gave me an entirely new perspective on loss not as a professional, but as a grieving father. Since then, I’ve carried that pain with me, not as a burden, but as a reminder that every family I meet deserves someone who truly understands.

This is more than just a job for me. It’s a mission. It’s sacred work.

In 2019, by God’s grace, our second son Ethan was born, a light in the darkness. Through every hardship, my faith has remained the anchor that keeps me grounded.

I don’t do this for attention or applause. I do it because every goodbye deserves reverence. Every life deserves to be remembered with grace and compassion.

What lies ahead is in God’s hands and it is always greater than we expect.

So keep walking forward. Stay grounded in who you are. Serve with your heart.
