Kelvin Mark's Story
My name is Kelvin Mark, Founder of New Life Funeral Director.
More than being a funeral director, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside families through some of life's most difficult and sacred moments. Behind every funeral is a story, a family, a lifetime of memories, and a final farewell that deserves to be honoured with dignity, compassion, and genuine care.
My calling
More than just a career
My journey into the funeral profession was never part of my original plan. After completing my National Service in 1994, I began my career with Singapore Technologies Aerospace (formerly STAe) as an aircraft technician. It was a stable and rewarding profession, but in 1997, life led me down an unexpected path that would ultimately become my life's calling.
My late uncle, Sylvester, a highly respected embalmer, introduced me to the funeral profession. I started from the very beginning, assisting in embalming, driving hearses and casket vans, coordinating funeral logistics, and supporting bereaved families. Every responsibility, no matter how small, became a valuable lesson.
The funeral profession cannot be learned solely from books. It is learned through service, sacrifice, and countless moments spent comforting families in their darkest hours.
This calling demands complete commitment. Whether it is Christmas, Chinese New Year, a public holiday, or an important family occasion, grief does not wait. Throughout the years, I have answered calls on festive celebrations, left family gatherings midway, and even attended to bereaved families on the eve of my own wedding. These experiences have taught me that serving others often means placing their needs before your own.
In 2009, my cousin and I co-founded New Life Funeral Home. In 2016, I established New Life Funeral Director, guided by a simple mission: to provide every family with sincere, compassionate, and professional funeral care rooted in Christian values, integrity, and respect for every life.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving families from all walks of life, including Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, Taoist, Free Thinker, and families of other faiths. In addition to local funeral arrangements, I also coordinate international repatriation services, helping loved ones return home with dignity across borders.
Every family is unique, but every family deserves the same compassion, respect, and unwavering support.
gRIEF FROM THE INSIDE
In 2018, my understanding of grief became deeply personal.
Our firstborn son, Enzo, was born with a severe congenital heart condition and passed away at just four months and one week old. Until then, I had walked alongside countless grieving families as a funeral director. For the first time, I experienced that same heartbreaking loss as a father.
That season of my life forever changed the way I serve. It deepened my compassion, strengthened my faith, and reminded me that every family deserves not only a professional funeral director, but someone who genuinely understands the pain of saying goodbye.
In 2019, by God's grace, our second son, Ethan, was born—a precious reminder that even after our darkest nights, hope can shine again. Through every joy and every trial, my Christian faith has remained the foundation that guides both my life and my work.
Today, New Life Funeral Director is more than a funeral company. It is a calling. It is a ministry of compassion. It is a commitment to honour every life with dignity. It is a promise that no family should ever walk through grief alone.
I have never sought recognition or applause. My greatest reward is knowing that I have helped families find comfort, clarity, and peace during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
The future is always in God's hands, and His plans are far greater than our own.
As long as families need someone to walk beside them, I will continue to serve with humility, compassion, unwavering dedication, and a servant's heart.

As I was walking towards the coffin, I saw this beautiful heavenly white area. A beautiful garden setting with beautiful flowers. My aunt was sleeping peacefully in the white with a silver coffin. Mom passed away in the evening late on the Saturday before the first day of Chinese New Year 2016, which fell on Monday. Despite the time constraint and the closure of many catering and floral businesses for the Chinese New Year holidays, Kelvin Mark and his team of merry men executed their tasks diligently and presented a respectable and dignified wake and send off for my late mother. Their industry contacts are good.
Kelvin Mark and his team are very personable. They are humble and openly admit that they do not know everything. But they catch on to what their clients want very quickly and they deliver the best possible solution. They think out of the box and always have their clients’ interests at heart.
